For the outdoor exhibition Criminal: An Untold Story of Homelessness, Resistance and Survival at London’s Museum of Homelessness, we adapted our modular Intersections exhibition system. Our focus was on ensuring the design integrated naturally into the green surroundings of Finsbury Park while responding thoughtfully to this sensitive social context.
The exhibition explores how people experiencing homelessness have been criminalised and marginalised over the past 400 years. Through powerful stories of resistance and survival, it sheds light on the systems, policies, and attitudes that continue to shape public space today.
The exhibition moves beyond the traditional static display. Our Intersections installation offers a compelling response to hostile architecture. Rather than excluding people, it opens up the space – inviting visitors to sit, rest, connect, and engage with the stories being shared.
As a result, the outdoor exhibition functions not only as an educational platform but also as an immersive spatial experience. This approach resonated strongly with critics: the show received a four-star review from The Guardian, while The World of Interiors praised the setting, describing it as an “alternative design history of Britain.”
